Memorial Day and Devlin

Devlin Joe will be 13 weeks tomorrow. He is getting so big! He has great muscle control. He keeps his head straight when pulled up into a sitting position and is only a little wobbly when standing assisted. I know he doesn't get enough tummy time though, and I worry that will hurt him developmentally. It's just really hard to keep our dog Romeo away from him whenever Dev gets to lay on the floor.

So we have had a very laid back Memorial Day weekend. We have pretty much just hung out here at home watching movies and playing outside. We had hot dogs, cheese burgers, macaroni salad, and soda today. (Soda is not a typical drink for us). We talked about what Memorial Day means to us, and people we know who died in different wars.
saw on facebook.

So I actually felt productive today. I wrote out Michael's home school schedule for next week, Washed and put away all our dishes (we hand wash everything), did a mountain of laundry, wrote out route cards for my new paper route, and got in a small workout. I still need to write out next week in my planner, come up with a YouTube video idea, and give Romeo a bath.
Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day!

Finding opossum babies and trying to save them

So we've had an interesting week. While delivering papers we saw a bunch of raccoons running away from something in the road. Upon closer inspection I saw it was a dead opossum. I would have drove around it an kept going but, something wiggled. We got out and saw that she had babies and while most were dead, three were still alive. I'm a sucker for all things baby so I picked them up and brought them home.

They are about five weeks old. Their eyes are still closed and they make a sneezing sound when they cry. I thought I would call animal control when they opened and that would be that....I was wrong. Animal control wouldn't take them. They gave us the number for the game warden, the game warden sent a text with a woman's name and number, the woman was out of town. During all these calls one of the babies passed away. So while trying to reach someone who would take them I started reading on the internet. Well I relised that they were cold and they needed to be warmed up. so we got them snuggled in a blue shirt, laid on a towel, laid on a heating pad.

That warmed them up. I didn't have pet milk but, my son Dev drinks a lactose free baby milk. So we put some formula on a sponge and the smallest baby drank it. We also had to rub them with a towel to help them go to the bathroom. an hour before the local vet office said they would take them...24 hours after we picked them up out of the road, another baby passed on. So we brought the smallest one, the runt, the little fighter to the vet where one of the technicians was licensed to raise them.

My eldest son was happy that we saved at least one baby. I wish someone would update the list of names. Half the people on the list no longer take in baby opossums because it takes six months to raise them up to be released back into the wild.

A little bit about me.

Hi! My name's Tisha and I want to tell ya'll a little bit about me. I'm a single mom living in Burnet, Tx. with my two sons. Michael is 15,

and Devlin is currently 2 months.

I'm self employed, (I deliver newspapers) and live next door to my mother which makes life a little easier. I'm on YouTube, and Instagram. My life is pretty simple. I home school my son, cook, clean, run errands, make videos for YouTube and try to sneak in a workout three times a week.

My Goals-
1) I want to continue to loose weight. I lost almost 90 pounds last year before I got pregnant. I want to have lost between 50-70 pounds by this time next year.
2) To stop smoking. This is a hard one for me but, I'm determined. I don't smoke inside my house or SUV and when my last pack is gone I'm not buying any more.
3) To run a 5K, I was jogging a few times a week before I got pregnant and haven't done much since. I want to start again...and run in a 5K.
4) To be more consistent and to stop procrastinating.(in my head these two go together). I tend to be gung ho for a month and then I start slipping. I'm going to use this blog as my journal of sorts.I hope to post at least twice a week. and not to put things off till the last second.

I like to read...a lot. I like anything Disney, teaching my sons, writing, playing with Dev, watching t.v. with Michael, I like the colors pink and black. I like swimming and hiking. I like being outside. I like coffee, animals, texting and making haul videos for YouTube. I like seeing what's going on in other peoples lives. I like pocket letters, pen pals, crafts of any kind. I like making lists. I like Elder scrolls, Harry Potter, LOTR, and horror movies. I like Funko pops, Tsum Tsums, and anything sparkly.

Well that's all for my first post. I hope you have a wonderful day!
