June 2016 Loot Crate and Ipsy bag

We got 2 wonderful subscription boxes in the mail. Loot Crate and Ipsy.
First loot crate-
This is how it arrives.

When we first open it this is what we see. June's theme was dystopia.

This is the loot crate magazine.

Okay, so this is the items that came with our crate.

We got a shirt, a blank key, a dorbz, a puzzle, and a (tin?) sign.
My son ran off with the dorbz and sign. He hasn't been wanting the shirts lately but, that's okay with me because I like them. Last but, certainly not least we got our Loot Crate pin which Michael called...(told ya it would be a nuke).

Second was my very first ipsy bag.

I got some great stuff, My favorite things were the bag itself, my sample of Urban Decay eyeshadow, and my be a bombshell lip gloss (it smells great and makes me think of Florida and the beach).
I had to play with my makeup a bit today and I used my new lip gloss (I'm also in love with the color).

Cheap and Simple, diy changing table, and snack holder.

I was cleaning, rearranging, putting away groceries yesterday, when I thought I would share some of my cheap diy ideas.

First a changing table. I'm not a fan of changing tables, the only reason I used one this time with Devlin was because I didn't know how my dog Romeo would react to him. I couldn't justify spending a couple hundred dollars on a changing table I would use for a short period of time so I got creative.
I used a sturdy plastic (dresser?) with a changing table mattress. Before I ever laid D.J. on it I sat my 24 pound dog up on top where he promptly laid down and went to sleep, not to mention my two cats who slept on it together before D.J. was born.
Top View of my changing table.

Right Drawer. Where I stored diapers.

Left drawer. Where I kept a couple of receiving blankets from the hospital, diaper rash cream, extra wipes, and his grooming kit.

Middle drawer. Where I kept burp cloths, and receiving blankets.

Bottom drawer. Where I kept extra blankets.

So that was my changing table. I have changed things around now, the baby trash can with lid still lives in our room, the mattress is now on my bed (he likes laying on it), and the plastic dresser is now in my eldest sons room.

Second thing is our snack holder. I have only one cabinet in my kitchen for food. so I use plastic containers to hold our snacks on top of the fridge.
These are the three containers that sit on my fridge.

The top two are filled with goldfish, and hot crackers. While I could have found a spot for them in our cabinet, my eldest still forgets to close them up and then they go stale. This makes it easier on him and my pocketbook.

The bottom container is a cake (saver?) that we turned upside down.

This we filled with all kinds of different little snacks. Man can it hold a bunch!
Nutrigrains, cookies, fruit roll-ups, crackers, granola bars, and fiber one bars
fill this baby up.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to leave me a comment, I'm always looking for cheap and simple new ideas.

They're called fire ants for a reason

I HATE FIRE ANTS!!

So yesterday was painful. I had just finished my ditl blog post and  realized I needed to do another load of my (it seems) never ending laundry. So I grabbed my hamper and went out the door. (I do my laundry next door at my moms).
Let me first tell you, I'm not the most coordinated person you'll ever meet.
So while walking the 16 feet to my mothers front door (I measured), I dropped my cell phone...on the pavement...under her car.
My phone is fine.
I thought no big deal Tish just pick up your phone. So I crouched down placing my right hand in the soft, fluffy, TALL (thanks to all the rain) grass. Immediately there was pain. My arm felt like it was on fire. Looking at my arm I saw why. I had at least 50 fire ants on my arm. I ran into my moms after knocking them off of me. My mom bless her soul poured bleach on my arm and gave me 2 benadryls.
10 minutes later, after retrieving my items from the front of the house (and starting my laundry). Most of the pain was gone but, the swelling had started. It looked horrible.

So as of today it looks even worse. The little blisters have appeared, with my (inside) wrist getting the most bites (17). I have 41 fire ant bites in total.
The worst part is the itching, and trying not to scratch. I think I'm going to try the baking soda, water paste and see if that helps.
Hope your day was better than mine.

ditl of a single mom

So I thought it would be fun to do a day in the life blog post. My life is kind of boring but, I'm happy with it.

12:30pm - My alarm goes off and I shuffle to the kitchen to make coffee.

12:35pm - Coffee is brewing so I go use the bathroom. I was to tired to take a shower before bed so I had to take one this morning.

1:00pm - I'm clean and thanks to a large cup of coffee able to put coherent sentences together, so I stroll next door to my mom's to pick up D.J. He's still napping when I get him home so I make my bed and lay him down to surf Facebook and drink a protein shake (till he wakes up).

1:20(ish)pm - D.J. is awake so I change his diaper and get some quality snuggle time in while giving him a bottle. My eldest son Michael has woken up and is fixing himself some cereal.

1:45pm - D.J. has finished his bottle so I start Michael's school lessons, and we watch Chicken Little on netflix. (Devlin loves flashy shows...they make him smile).

4:00pm - We take a break from school work. D.J. falls asleep in his bouncy seat after another bottle, and Michael goes on YouTube.

This is D.J.'s longest nap time, so I get some cleaning in. I fold, sort and start a new load of laundry, clean my living room, do some dishes and clip some coupons.

6:30(ish)pm - Michael is finishing his school work. D.J. has just finished another bottle and we are snuggling in bed and checking our YouTube page.

7:00pm - Michael has finished with school for the day so he goes to his room to play video games. I check out my planner for what I need to do tomorrow.

I change D.J.'s diaper

and we go into the living room to hang out for a while.(it was hard getting a picture of him swinging).

8:30(ish)pm -  Michael tells me he's hungry and after looking in my fridge and cupboard I decide to make mini mexican pizzas.

10:00pm - We have eaten lunch, I fed Devlin a bottle (who has fallen asleep again), and decided to watch Being Human (BBC version).

11:15pm - My Mom shows up to pick up D.J. for the night and I sneak a quick workout in before Michael and I go to work.

12:30am - We head to work and arrive at the drop to do paper work, fix route cards, clean out the car, and load up with papers. Michael sits in the backseat bagging papers while I drive and throw.

This is outside our only store.

Trunk, that's the store, New York Times (blue), and guard house papers (orange).

Backseat

Finally home

6:35am - Michael and I go inside. We feed the dog (Romeo), and our two cats (Salem & Zahneba). After Taking Romeo out Michael goes to bed. I change into pajamas and read a few more chapters in my book before going to bed.

I fall asleep knowing that in five hours I get to do it all over again...I wouldn't trade my life for anything in the world. I hope you enjoyed a small look into my daily life.
